It is a well known fact that asteroids travel at great speed. You will be amazed to know that 2016 DY30 is headed towards Earth at an astounding speed of approximately 54,000 kilometers per hour. On the other hand, 2020 ME3 is approaching earth at 16,000 kilometers per hour.
Potentially dangerous Asteroid 2020
A warning has been issued by NASA National Aeronautics and Space Administration as the asteroid is huge and can pose threat to our planet. Sources reveal that two asteroids will be whiz pasting Earth on Sunday. The asteroids have been given the names 2016 DY30 and 2020 ME3.
What are PHAs?
It is a short form for “Potentially Hazardous Asteroids” and these are defined on the basis of parameters involving the close proximity of the asteroid to the Earth.
Asteroid 2020 ND is around 170 meter-long and is expected to be as close as 5,086,328 kilometres from Earth. It is the distance of the asteroid from our planet which defies it as potentially dangerous.
2016 DY30 is expected to be as close as about 0.02306 astronomical units from our plant, as per NASA’s Center for Near-Earth Object Studies. The bigger asteroid, Apollo, will be as closest on July 19 around 10:02 AM IST. The expected distance of the smaller asteroid, Amor, from Earth is approximately 0.03791 astronomical units (5.6 million kilometers).
If going by 2020, anything can happen!
