Rihanna has recently revealed for the first time that she will sing at the Super Bowl halftime show next year.
In a new video, the “Umbrella” singer tells a TMZ reporter just how she feels about the impending performance and provides suggestions as to who may join her onstage.
Rihanna declares, “I’m anxious but excited.”
When asked if her lover A$AP Rocky will be the surprise guest, the pop diva flashes the peace sign and answers, “Maybe, girl.”
Rihanna’s halftime show performance will mark her return to music following a lengthy break during which she focused on her brands, Savage x Fenty and Fenty Beauty. Additionally, it has been six years since her last album release, Anti, in 2016.
The 2023 Super Bowl will be played at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on Sunday, February 12, 2023.
Last month, Rihanna revealed via Instagram that she will lead the halftime act. The post featured a photograph of her holding an NFL football. It was simply captioned with a period.
Initially, TMZ reported that the NFL and Roc Nation were in talks with the celebrity to headline the event. Additionally, the site highlighted the numerous prospective singers who could join her onstage, namely, anyone with whom she has ever collaborated musically.
According to a 2019 interview, the “Diamonds” singer turned down an offer to lead the halftime show years ago because of the NFL’s treatment of Colin Kaepernick.
