Part of the Apple Park campus in Cupertino was evacuated after first responders discovered an envelope containing a white powder substance, NBC Bay Area reports. The Santa Clara County Fire Department’s incident report shows that a fire alarm and a fire alarm went off at Apple’s corporate headquarters just after 12 a.m. local time.
Emergency services have since determined that the situation is under control and employees are apparently allowed to re-enter, the publication said. It is not clear what substance was involved.
Apple told Apple Park employees that “authorities have concluded that no hazardous materials were present,” according to an email obtained later in the day by The edge† The email states that campus activities are back to normal and that “all sections are open.”
Apple didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment about what might be going on. After several times rescheduling return to office plans for its employees, Apple will begin a “phased approach” to its hybrid work pilot in April.
