Brad Pitt shoots back at ex Angelina Jolie after she filed a request to remove a judge during the divorce battle
The attorney’s of Brad Pitt has smashed the attempt of dismissing Judge John W. Ouderkirk, a private judge, by his ex Angelina Jolie amid the duo’s ongoing divorce case.
People magazine has obtained some legal documents which revealed that the legal team of the 56-year-old actor had accused his ex-wife of making a “transparently tactical gambit” in an attempt to delay the proceedings, and ultimately their children will be hurt the most by all this. It reads, “Unfortunately, the individuals hurt most by Jolie’s transparently tactical gambit are the parties’ children, who continue to be deprived of a final resolution to these custody issues.”
Jolie’s act has been described as “a thinly-veiled attempt by Jolie to delay the adjudication of long-pending custody issues in this case,” in the legal documents.
Initially, Jolie, 45, filed the paperwork for Judge Ouderkirk on August 7th that he should be taken off from the divorce case with the allegations that he was very late and was not upcoming sufficiently for the other cases for which he was hired for involving Anne C. Kiley, the attorney of Pitt. As per People, Ouderkirk has ten days for giving the response to the filling of the actress.
The filing said that during the proceedings of Pitt-Jolie, Ouderirk has “failed to disclose the cases that demonstrated the current, ongoing, repeat-customer relationship between the judge and Respondent’s counsel.”
It further states that Pitt’s attorney, “actively advocated for Judge Ouderkirk’s financial interests in moving — over the opposing party’s opposition — to have his appointment (and his ability to continue to receive fees) extended in a high profile case.”
At the same time, Pitt’s team responded by saying that Jolie was known to this and “never objected” to Ouderkirk’s “continued involvement” until now.
As per Outlet, Ouderkirk was officiating the wedding of Jolie-Pitt since 2014.
Samantha Bley DeJean, Jolie’s attorney, told People regarding the filing that, “It is unfortunate that Mr. Pitt’s team has sought to intervene ahead of Judge Ouderkirk’s response. One can only conclude that this is an attempt to obstruct or influence Judge Ouderkirk’s answer. Any delay in these proceedings is due to their zealous attempt to create an unrecognized special exception for their client’s benefit.”
Like many other high-profile couples, Pitt and Jolie are also paying for the private judge in their divorce case to keep the filings, personal and financial details within sealed them. However, following legal moves are mandatory within the standard procedure of the court.
The couple shares six children together, Maddox, 19; Pax, 16; Zahara, 15; Shiloh, 14; Knox, 12; and Vivienne, 12. The former couple called it quits after sharing ten years and two years of marriage. The duo has been locked in the divorce battle since the year 2016 when they officially revealed their separation.
