NorthEast United FC is going through one of their worst periods in ISL history. The team is already out of the semi-final race and has not come out victorious in any of their last 10 games. But the players are not giving up and will try to play their best game when they face the star-studded Bengaluru FC in the 2021-22 Hero Indian Super League (ISL) at the PJN Stadium, Margao on Friday. Bengaluru FC had lost their last match against Hyderabad in which Sunil Chhetri reached the milestone of 50 ISL goals. Currently, at 6e position, a win against NEUFC will move them closer to the semi-finals. The match kicks off at 7:30 PM IST. It will be broadcast live on Star Sports Network, Disney+ Hotstar and Jio TV.
Despite a poor run this season, NEUFC Head Coach Khalid Jamil believes his players are well prepared for the game. Speaking before the game about the team’s approach to Bengaluru FC, he said: “They have experienced players, their team is so good, they also work hard, but we also prepared very well, so we will not take this match lightly. we have to finish the season, that’s why everyone knows it’s a serious game.”
Khalid Jamil had a dream run in the final season of the Indian Super League. This is another reason why the fans are finding it hard to digest the team’s performance this season. It has become a total collapse. However, the coach does not think it is good to compare and has not been able to achieve the desired result. He said: “We don’t have to think about last year, this is a new season. And speaking of this season, yes, everyone has worked hard, but we did not get a result for various reasons. Still we have three games , so we have to think about that will be a better solution.”
Both teams have played against each other eleven times and NEUFC has only won once.
