Agartala: A court here has postponed the removal of Tripura Cricket Association secretary Timir Chanda by TCA president Manik Saha.
Chanda, a former all-rounder of the Tripura Ranji team, was abruptly removed from the post of TCA secretary on March 30 on charges of “non-cooperation” by the TCA president.
Chanda is contesting the decision of the TCA president and has filed a case with Senior Division Civil Judge, Agartala, Tanushree Debnath.
“The court took the case to court on Monday, but reserved the verdict. The court on Saturday suspended Timir Chanda’s removal order until further notice,” Chanda’s lawyer Sankar Lodh said.
“Following Saturday’s court order, the president’s decision to remove the TCA secretary has no legal value. It means Timir Chanda is the secretary of TCA,” he said.
Chanda said: “I have full confidence in the country’s legal system and Saturday’s court order showed that the action against me was illegal.”
