Cult leader who Claims to be the Reincarnation of Jesus Arrested in Russia

A special operation was done to arrest a former traffic police officer, claiming to be a reincarnation of Jesus. He has a cult running in the depth of Siberia for the past three decades. Helicopters and armed forces had to storm the communities run by ‘Sergei Torop,’ known to his followers as ‘Vissarion.’ He and two of his aides were arrested.

The investigating committee said that they had charged him with creating an illegal religious organization and extorting money from the followers and led them to emotional abuse. Torop, 59, was led by the masked troops to a helicopter, and the people involved in the operation were agents from police and Russia’s FSB security services.

Troop lost his job as a traffic officer in 1989. He then claimed that he had an ‘awakening’ when the Soviet regime began to collapse. In 1991 he founded a movement which is now known as the church of the Last Testament. He has several followers who belong to different professions from all over Russia and also from abroad.
