After the RR registered a stunning win over MI, at the Sheik Zayed Stadium in the United Arab Emirates, CSK has become the first team to leave the IPL 2020. Since the inception of IPL, this is the first incidence where CSK is out of the playoff race. The team is rock bottom with four wins and eight defeats out of 12 matches played.
Earlier, CSK had a chance of playing the playoff berth on Sunday, but after the RR making a remarkable win by eight wickets on the 45th matchday of the ongoing IPL, all the hopes of the MS Dhoni-led CSK team are shattered. The three-time champions of the league have officially become the first team to get eliminated in this season.
Dhoni had already asserted in a post-match press conference that he feels that CSK doesn’t have a chance to make it to the playoffs. The press conference was held after CSK made an emphatic win over RCB.
