Eddie Van Halen who is a Legendary Guitarist said goodbye to the world. The co-founder of Van Halen Eddie died of cancer at the age of 65. When connected to the Rock star, he said the guitarist has died at St. John’s Hospital due to cancer. His Ex-wife Janie and only Son Wolfgang were by his side during his last times.
He further added that in the last two to three days Eddie’s health was going downhill. Doctors said that his lung cancer has spread to other parts of the body including the brain.
Eddie was a person who never quits and he was struggling with lung cancer for the past 10 years. As per the sources from the last year, his visits to the hospital increased and he went under chemo session recently.
It was in the news last year that Eddie was going through Radiation treatment in Germany and for that he was doing rounds between US and Germany for over 5 years.
Eddie was a heavy smoker so he would have developed throat cancer from that but in his belief, it was the metal guitar pick he used to put in his mouth frequently and continued the same for 20 years.
Cancer never stopped Eddie and he continued attending concert with his son Wolfgang.
Wolfgang wrote about his father and mourned his death on his social media, he wrote “He was the best father I could ever ask for. Every moment I’ve shared with him on and off stage was a gift. My heart is broken and I don’t think I’ll ever fully recover from this loss.” He further added, “I love you so much, Pop.”
Eddie was one of the best Guitarists of his time and he started getting recognition with his solo on Van Halen’s Eruption.
Back in 1982 he formed his own rock group including his Brother Alex who was a drummer, Michael Anthony who was on bass and singer David Lee Roth. Eddie played the role of songwriter along with Guitarist’s role.
They never stopped and continued to give hit after hit. “Runnin’ with the Devil,” “Unchained,” “Hot for Teacher,” “Panama” and “Jump” all were few major hits given by the group.
In 1983 things changed for the group. Singer Roth left the group but this doesn’t affect the stardom of the group. Then in 1983 Eddie get the opportunity to play solo in Michael Jackson’s Beat it.
Eddie and his brother Alex were the constant members of the rock group with others coming and going. In 2007, Eddie’s name was added to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Eddie’s Ex-Wife Janie wrote on her social media giving him tribute said he was the love of his life and said her son and she was with him during his last time.
