One Elden Ring exploit crashes PC players’ games and throws them into infinite death loops, according to a report by PC gamer†
As seen in a video by EldenRingUpdate on Twitter, the apparent hack occurs when an intruder activates a specific ability, causing some sort of glitch that crashes the host’s game. When the player tries to open the game, they find that their character goes down again and again.
⚠️Elden Ring PSA for PC Players⚠️
There is an exploit going on on the PC where hackers will corrupt your save file while invading you.
First they will crash your game, and when you open it again your character will constantly fall to their death… pic.twitter.com/8et3bl8T1I— Mordechai (@EldenRingUpdate) March 18, 2022
A user on Reddit suggests a possible solution, but it doesn’t seem to work 100 percent of the time. You can try to exit the game with Alt + F4 just before your character dies, which should give you a little more time on your next login. When you open the game again, you quickly open the map and warp to a place of grace. If you don’t manage to get to a place of grace fast enough, the death loop starts again. A user on Reddit reports losing 100 hours of gameplay with no success trying the fix.
FromSoftware and Bandai Namco have not yet commented on the situation, but we will update this article if we discover new information. For now, it’s probably best to back up your saved files and play them offline as it’s the only way to prevent invasions.
Earlier this year, an exploit dark souls – another title from FromSoftware and Bandai Namco — left PC players vulnerable to dangerous remote code attacks. At the time, players were concerned that the issue could also affect the unreleased Elden Ring† dark soulsPC servers have been shut down since February so developers can fix the issue.
