On Monday, Facebook became the latest tech giant for entering the field of cloud-based gaming service. But it is introducing the cloud-gaming within its previously existing gaming service Facebook gaming itself, unlike Google and Amazon.
In a blog post, Facebook wrote that no special hardware or controllers would be required and the games can be played as they were already being played on Facebook. Hands would be the controllers since they were launching native mobile games.
The games are free-to-play in beta mode on Android and the web. There it can be accessed via fb.gg/play. But the service won’t be available on iOS.
The list of games included is- Asphalt 9, Mobile Legends: Adventure by Moonton; PGA TOUR Golf Shootout by Concrete Software, Solitaire: Arthur’s Tale by Qublix Games, Legends by Gameloft; and WWE SuperCard by 2K Games. In a few days, Facebook would add Dirt Bike Unchained by Red Bull.
The players will be introduced to the player names and gaming theme avatars so that the players can represent themselves in the game without using their full name and profile picture.
