FedEx will photograph your package shortly to prove it has been delivered

FedEx will soon be taking photos of packages on their doorstep to provide proof of delivery when they don’t require a signature.

“This is something e-commerce merchants and customers have been asking for, and we are proud to be the first to announce that this service will be available to retail customers,” said Brie Carere, FedEx Chief Customer Officer, in a statement. a press release announcing the program today.

The free service is available to both FedEx Express and FedEx Ground delivery customers with and without a login to the FedEx Delivery Manager, the company’s free portal.

The new program will obviously be a good source of protection for FedEx, and it should also help businesses whose customers report that their package has not been delivered. It’s also a good resource for customers to find out if packages ever arrived at their doorstep, especially if they’re missing.

Amazon rolled out a similar program in 2018 called Photo On Delivery. It was intended to provide proof of delivery and help customers locate their packages, but it was only available in certain areas. The program allowed the images to be used by Amazon to verify a package’s location, conduct quality control and investigate a customer’s concerns, Amazon said. Customers who did not want photos of their packages taken could opt out of the program.

Customers without a FedEx account can view their image through the FedEx tracking tool by entering their tracking number. Those with an account can view it through the FedEx Delivery Manager.

FedEx says the service will first be available to FedEx Delivery Manager users in “select markets” before launching in time for the holiday season to customers in the US and Canada.
