Former President of India Pranab Mukherjee Passes Away At 84

Former President of India Pranab Mukherjee passed away in Delhi at the age of 84. His son Abhijeet Mukherjee confirmed through a tweet. He was admitted to the RR Army Hospital in early August. He was being treated for a brain clot and had gone through emergency surgery for the same.

He was also tested positive for COVID-19. He was critical and on ventilator support. He was the 13th President of India and served from 2012-2017. He was a fighter and was fighting against the disease till the last breath.

He was awarded Bharat Ratna last year 2019, India’s highest civilian honor,. He had in-depth knowledge of all parliamentary procedures. He was not a silent president but a very active one, he took many initiatives in several spheres of life which will make him an inspiration for generations for many years to come. Rashtrapati Bhavan’s Twitter account was launched on July 1, 2014 under his tenure. Mr Mukherjee has authored several books on the Indian Economy and on Nation Building.

He was rated one of the best five Finance Ministers of the world in 1984 according to a survey conducted by “Euro Money” Journal published from New York and was declared ‘Finance Minister of the year’ for Asia in 2010 by “Emerging Markets”, the journal of record for the World Bank and the IMF.
