Galaxy Z Flip 4 leak shows a very familiar-looking foldable

Just hours after we got our first glimpse of the potential design of Samsung’s Z Fold 4, unofficial renders of its smaller sibling – the Z Flip 4 – have also been leaked via 91Mobiles and OnLeaks† But while the next Fold might get a redesigned camera bump, the Z Flip 4’s design looks nearly identical to its predecessor. Externally, it still has a two-tone color scheme with a pair of cameras and a small notification display, while inside there’s still a 6.7-inch folding screen with a punch-hole selfie cutout in the top center.

That’s not necessarily a big surprise, and it certainly isn’t bad. Samsung followed up its first Z Flip just months later with the nearly identical Z Flip 5G, so it’s already proven that it likes updating the insides of its foldable devices without changing their looks. And since we were quite impressed with last year’s Z Flip 3 (“the first foldable phone for normal people”), an immediate overhaul of the design doesn’t feel essential, even if we wouldn’t say no to a slightly larger external display. .

If Samsung plans its next Z Flip to be a spec bump, we hope the specs get a decent boost. The rear cameras need the most improvement, which were both 12 megapixels last time around at a time when Samsung’s relatively-priced flagship Galaxy S devices are getting 50-megapixel main sensors and above. Expect an official announcement in August, if Samsung follows the same schedule as last year.
