A rumor began to circulate on social media on August 14th, 2020. The very popular Annabelle Doll, the seemingly supernatural to that has been the inspiration for many horror films like The Conjuring, had disappeared from an occult museum from Connecticut.
The words Annabelle and en Museum both began trending on Twitter as some social media users started posted messages about devilish doll allegedly was unconstrained. However, the fears related to the doll’s disappearance were for naught as the Annabelle doll had not disappeared from the Warren Museum; in the end, a doll is an inanimate object.
Fo those unaware, the Warren’s Occult Museum was a real place and is a house of many artifacts gathered by paranormal investors Ed and Lorraine Warren. The couple is famous for investigating a haunted house in 1975 in New York. This investigation became the inspiration for the book The Amityville Horror and many films with the same name. The duo has also investigated the reports about Raggedy Ann Doll that was allegedly possessed by a young girl named Annabelle Higgins. This doll also inspired many horror movies, and it was also put on display later on.
The Warner Occult Museum is not in operation now. According to Atlas Obscura, both Ed and Lorraine Warren have passed away, and the activities of this museum were stopped in 2018. The museum was closed due to some zoning issues, and Tony Spera, the son-in-law of Warrens, was searching for a new home for the museum, as the paranormal property has yet to be reopened, reported Monroe Sun.
The status of a museum is still doubtful. However, the rumors of the doll’s disappearance have not started with any police reports, spiritual sightings, scary videos, or any call from Spera to be in a search for the doll. These rumors started from a mistranslation.
The rumors began spreading shortly after publishing an interview by Hollywood reporter with the actress Annabelle Wallis who played the role, Mia, in Annabelle movie. In the interview, Walis talked about her upcoming film, The Silencing, and how she Is feeling after working with Tom Cruise in The Mummy. Besides this, she also talked about running, and the Hollywood reporter also added a video showing some escape scenes from the film The Mummy. The news about Wallis running seems to have been misunderstood as escaping of doll Annabelle soon after the news began circulating in Chinese language social media sites.
