IND vs NZ ODI Series: The India tour of New Zealand team will start from the first ODI in Hyderabad on 18 January. Earlier, Kiwi team’s fast bowler Matt Henry has been injured. Soug Bracewell has been selected in his place for the ODI series.
New Zealand fast bowler Doug Bracewell has been included in the squad for the ODI series against India and Pakistan in place of injured Matt Henry. New Zealand Cricket has also included Jacob Duffy in place of Tim Southee for the tour of India. Henry’s abdominal muscles were strained on the last day of the second Test against Pakistan in Karachi. They will take two to four weeks to recover from it.
The 32-year-old Bracewell, with 68 international caps, featured in the home ODI series against the Netherlands last April. Bracewell has done wonders with bat and ball in domestic cricket and is in fine form. He will reach Pakistan on Wednesday. At the same time, fast bowler Jacob Duffy has been included in the team for the tour of India in place of Tim Southee. The New Zealand team will travel to India after the conclusion of the three-match ODI series in Pakistan on January 13.
India will host New Zealand for six matches in January-February itself. During this, three T20 and three ODIs will be played between the two teams. Indore, Ranchi and Lucknow have also got to host one match each. The series will begin on January 18 with an ODI in Hyderabad. India-New Zealand third ODI will be played on 24 January in Indore. At the same time, the first T20 will be played in Ranchi on 27 January. India-New Zealand 2nd T20 will be played on January 29 at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. The series will end in Ahmedabad.
New Zealand coach Gary Stead said Bracewell was a like-to-like replacement for Henry in the ODI team. Stead told New Zealand Cricket (NZC) on Monday – Bracewell is a very experienced bowler and we think he will be helpful for us with his skill. The options we already have, he will help a lot in the series against Pakistan and India. It would be a good mix.
