India loses Top Test spot, Pakistan No More On Top in T20I: ICC Ranking

India loses its no. 1 test-team title to Australia in the 5-day format of cricket, now Australia is the new table-topper, acc. To the latest ranking updated by ICC (International Cricket Council.

India is now on the 3rd spot in the new ranking while Australia (116 points) leading on the top spot which is being followed by New Zealand (2nd position with 115 points) and India (3rd with 114 points) in the new table.

India have been on top spot since October 2016. Acc. To a statement released by ICC, India had won 12 Tests and lost just one Test in 2016-17, the records of which were removed in the latest update.

India is still in the top of ICC World Test Championship table. A league comprising six series played by each of the top nine test teams.

India’s last International series encounter was with New Zealand in which India lost by 2-0. It was India’s first overseas series of year 2020 after that India have not played any because of COVID epidemic. In another format of cricket which is T20I, Australia have gained the no. 1 spot for the first time in T20I’s history.

Pakistan have been now demoted in the ICC T20I rankings after Australia took over as the new table-leaders.

T20I rankings were introduced in 2011, since then it’s the first time when Australia top the list. Whereas Pakistan, who had overtaken New Zealand to top the position in January 2018 and then stayed at 1st position for 27 months, is now at fourth position with 260 points.

Australia is leading the T20 ranking with 278 points followed by England (with 268 points on second position) and India on the third with 266 points.

ICC ODI ranking: India is on 2nd position.

In ODI ranking India have retained 2nd spot, England in now on the top of the table-ranking. England have now 127 points whereas India have 119 points and is on 2nd position followed by New Zealand with 117 points on third position.
