Lifelike Robot Dolphin could Replace Captive Animals One Day

Edge Innovations, a US engineering company, has created a robot dolphin that looks real as a real dolphin. The company is famous for making aquatic creatures for Bollywood blockbusters like “Free Willy,” “Deep Blue Sea,” and “Anaconda.”

The dolphin created looks just like those that jump through hoops and perform acrobatics at theme parks. The company had created the dolphin with an animatronic and special effects division in California, which ranges between $3 million to $5 million.

The engineering company believes that someday such lifelike animatronics could entertain crowds at theme parks, and there will not be a need to keep the wild animals captive. Swimmers will also get a chance to swim along with robotic giant sharks and reptiles of the Jurassic era, which lived millions of years ago.

Many countries have banned the captivity of wild animals. The creation of robotic animals will bring about a positive change in the society, which will benefit both the entertainment platforms where robots will showcase knowledge about the animals and also the endangered species of wildlife will be set free forever.
