List of Upcoming Covid-19 Vaccine In India After Covaxin And Covishield

Now that the two vaccines Covishield and Covaxin, have got formal approval from India for the emergency use against Covid-19 in order to pace up towards the biggest drives. India plans to vaccinate almost 300 million people on a priority basis this year. VG Somani, The Drug Controller General Of India, has given the green light for emergency usage of the two Covid-19 vaccines, one of which is developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca, and the other vaccine is made by a local company named Bharat Biotech. 

While both these vaccines have received emergency approval, there are other vaccines in the country that are potential candidates in the war against Corona. 

  1. ZyCov-D

The Zydus Cadila vaccine is made on the DNA platform and called ZyCov-D. Cadila has teamed up with the Department Of Biotechnology. The Ahmedabad-based drug firm has got its approval from DCGI, to begin with, Phase 3 clinical trials of ZyCov-D.

  1. Sputnik V

The vaccine is developed by Russia’s Gamaleya Institute and is in its 2nd and 3rd phase of clinical trials in the Dr. Reddy Laboratories and Biological E, on the other hand, is conducting the Phase 1 trial. On 24the November 2020, Russia announced that the Sputnik V vaccine was around 91.4% effective on the basis of late-stage trial results. Vaccinations were started in August, and 1,00,000 people have been vaccinated by now. In this very year, India is planning to make a million doses of Sputnik V. 

  1. NVX-COV-2373

The vaccine is developed by the Serum Institute of India and NovaVa, an American company. The phase 3 trial of the vaccine is under consideration. 

  1. Biological E Limited Vaccine

Biological E Ltd, a Hyderabad-based company, is planning to start a late-stage trial of their Covid-19 vaccine in April 2021. The vaccine is made after teaming up with the Dynavax Technologies Corp, a US-based company, and Houston’s Baylor College of Medicine. 

  1. HGC019

The vaccine is being developed by Gennova Biopharmaceuticals, which is a Pune-Based company that supports Seed Grant under the mission Ind-CEPI of the Union Ministry’s department of biotechnology. This mRNA vaccination is developed by Gennova together with the HDT Biotech Corporation, a US-Based company. 

  1. Second Vaccine By Bharat Biotech

The other vaccine, which is developed by the Bharat Biotech International Ltd, is in collaboration with the US-based Thomas Jefferson University and is in its preclinical stage. 

  1. Aurobindo Pharma Vaccine

The company has announced its very own vaccine development program through Auro Vaccines, which is its US subsidiary. The vaccine is under the preclinical phase.
