Netflix’s Marvel Shows Are Moving To Disney Plus In Canada

With the rights to all of Netflix’s Marvel cape shows returned to Disney, the big question on their minds was whether they would finally make the jump to Disney Plus to live alongside the rest of the studio’s heroes. Unsurprisingly, the answer is “yes”, but with some important caveats.

Following Mobile Syrup’s initial report, Engadget has confirmed that Netflix’s Marvel shows will begin streaming on Disney Plus in Canada on March 16, echoing previous reports that the series will leave Netflix on March 1. Between Spider-Man: No Way Home and the hawk eye series, fans of the Defenders have had more than a few reasons to wonder if and when daredevilJessica JonesLuke Cageand the others may be making the jump to Disney’s own streaming service, but it’s unclear whether their presence on Canadian Disney Plus is a sign of future story developments.

It’s also unclear whether Disney plans to treat the former Netflix shows in the same way in all territories where Disney Plus is currently available, especially given that the studio still has something of a Marvel foothold on it. Hulu, where shows like MODOKHelstromand runaways have lived in the past. Canada’s Disney Plus, which is also home to its Star content hub where plenty of other adult programming is currently available, could be a factor in this latest development and another sign that things may turn out differently in other countries.
