NEUFC disappoints again as they lose 1-2 after taking an early lead

NorthEast United FC continued their poor form and let go of an early advantage by losing 1-2 to Chennaiyin FC in Match 68 of the 2021-22 Hero Indian Super League (ISL) at PJN Stadium, Margao, Goa on Saturday. NEUFC had a dream start as Laldanmawia Ralte broke the deadlock and gave them the lead in the 35th minute. Shortly after the break, however, Ariel Borysiuk scored the equalizer for Chennaiyin FC. Vladimir Koman scored the winner in the 58e minute and helped Chennaiyin FC earn three crucial points and advance to the Top 4 in the points table.

It was the same old story for NEUFC today. Chennaiyin started the first half well and appeared to score several times. However, NEUFC was lucky enough to score first and went into the second half with a lead. Chennaiyin goalkeeper Debjit Majumder was the culprit when he came off his line and conceded a corner. From the flag kick, he again did some sloppy work and Laldanmawia Ralte made no mistake to score for NEUFC. Chennaiyin failed to convert their chances. Anirudh Thapa was the standout player for them, creating several chances in the NEUFC box, but NEUFC was lucky enough not to concede any in the first half.
