There is no guarantee that James Bond will not attend the Oscars this year, but he will be there.
On Sunday, the 94th Academy Awards will commemorate not only the 60th anniversary of the first James Bond movie, but also the 50th anniversary of “The Godfather.”
“We have a surprise for you there.” Will Packer, the man behind the show, said Thursday.
All of this is part of the theme of the year: “Movie lovers unite.”
“Movies are the one thing that connects so many people around the world,” Packer said. A movie can make you feel something, inspire you, or make you aspire.”
A preview of the upcoming Oscar ceremony includes host Regina Hall, co-producer Shayla Cowan, Oscars production designer David Korins, and musical director Adam Blackstone.
Amy Schumer, the third host, was not in attendance but sent a message through her colleagues: “Don’t worry, COVID isn’t here.”
Latin music stars Luis Fonsi and Becky G will perform the Lin-Manuel Miranda hit, which reached the top of the Billboard charts, the academy said. The evening will also include performances of the hits “Encanto” and “We Don’t Talk About Bruno.”
The Oscars will be broadcast live Sunday on ABC beginning at 8 p.m. EDT.
