New Delhi: Para canoeist Prachi Yadav made history by becoming the first Indian to take a bronze medal in the women’s VL2 200m event at the Paracanoe World Cup in Poznan, Poland.
Prachi took the bronze with a timing of 1:04.71 seconds behind silver medalist Brianna Hennessy of Canada (1:01.58s) and gold medalist Susan Seipel of Australia (1:01.54s).
It is India’s best ever performance in the event that started on May 26 and ends on Sunday.
In addition, Manish Kaurav (KL3 Men’s 200m) and Manjeet Singh (VL2 Men’s 200m) reached the finals of their respective events for the first time in the tournament’s history.
Jaideep qualified for the semi-finals of the men’s VL3 200m event but was unable to progress.
