Watch the Point Table of IPL 2021 at https://vivoiplpointstable.com. Every fan wishes to know more about the position of their favourite team on the points table. The 8 teams that are participating are Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Delhi Capitals (DC), Mumbai Indians (MI), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), Rajasthan Royals (RR), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The teams clash with one another in one home and one away match. Each team plays 14 matches, and only the top 4 teams will qualify for the playoffs.

If two of the teams have the same points, the team’s position is then decided by the Net Run Rate. NRR is basically an average of the number of runs a team scores every over minus the average number of runs that are scored against it every over. A team gets 2 points for the match they win, and the loser gets no points. Both the teams get one point each if the match is abandoned. The top 2 teams will be facing each other in the first qualifier, and the winner gets a direct entry in the finals. The one who loses in the first qualifier faces the one who wins the eliminator match. An eliminator match is when the third-place team battles with the fourth-place team.

How Are The Points Calculated In IPL?

The NRR is calculated by subtracting from the average runs per over scored by that team throughout the competition. The average runs per over scored against that team throughout the competition.

A team A had scored, so far in the tournament:

  • Against team 1, 254 runs (for 6 wickets) from 47.2 overs
  • Against team 2, 199 runs (for 9 wickets) from 50 overs
  • Against team 3, 225 runs (for 7 wickets) from 50 overs

Across the three games, team A scored 678 runs in a total of 147 overs and 2 balls (actually 147.333 overs), a rate of 678/147.333 or 4.602 rpo.

Teams opposing team A scored:

  • Team 1, 253 (for 5 wickets) from 50 overs.
  • Team 2, 110, all out from 35.2 overs.
  • Team 3, 103 all out from 41 overs.

In the case of team 2 and team 3, because they were all out before their allotted 50 overs expired, the run rate is calculated as if they had scored their runs over the full 50 overs.

Therefore, the run-rate scored against team A across the first three games is calculated on the basis of 466 runs in a total of 50 + 50 + 50 = 150 overs, a rate of 466/150 or 3.107 rpo.

The net run-rate is, therefore,

4.602 Run-rate for

– 3.107 Run-rate against
