The actor-producer has shared a note on Instagram, following the success of her film, ‘The White Tiger’. She is full of gratitude for all the love showered from people all over the world. She took to her Instagram handle and shared a special poster which declared that the film is number one in 64 countries and is already watched by 27 million households in just four weeks of its release.
She said that it was so emotional for her to see how the brilliant incredible story was discovered and accepted by so many people all around the globe. She was happy to see how the audiences have embraced the movie and it is an awe-inspiring thing for her.
She congratulated and thanked Aravind, Ramin, Adarsh, Raj, Mukul, Ava, and everyone involved with the film. Finally, she also thanked Netflix for giving their little movie the wings and said that she was grateful. The movie is a contention for the BAFTA nominations in 7 categories. It is amongst the 15 features which are vying for a spot in the best five for the best picture honor.
The lead actor of the film, Adarsh Gourav has also made it to the best actor category along with Riz Ahmed for Sound of Metal, and late star Chadwick Boseman for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and 12 others. Also, Priyanka is in the fray for the best-supporting actress category, a list which includes Maria Bakalova of Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, Ellen Burstyn of Pieces of Woman, Glenn Close for Hillbilly Elegy, and Olivia Colman for The Father.
The movie also features Rajkumar Rao. The movie is an extraordinary journey of a driver named Balram played by Adarsh. And showcases how he rose from being a poor villager to a successful entrepreneur in India. It shows how hunger and lack of opportunity drives the animal instinct of a human being for survival.
Priyanka plays Pinky Madam, who is a first-generation immigrant in the US and is married to Ashok (Rajkumar Rao). Priyanka has also served as an executive producer on the film along with the Emmy award-winning filmmaker Ava DuVernay. The movie is produced by Netflix in association with Mukul Deora.
