Ukhru: ‘Break Free’, a three-day Open Pool and Snooker tournament, concluded on Wednesday at SAM Food Court, Viewland at the Ukhrul District Headquarters. The event was organized by Team Collective Events (T-Coleve) in collaboration with SAM Group.
Man Cave State Open Snooker Tournament champion Arundas Singh teamed up with Atiboy Raleng, a local player from Hunphun village, to win the Open Pool Double. Singh also took the snooker championship title with Mayarshim Shimrah in second.
24 players from across the district and some players from the capital Imphal took part in the tournament.
The closing ceremony was graced by MCS Chunglenmang Kipjen, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ukhrul, as the Chief Guest with Raimeson WS, Informatics Officer, Department of Information Technology, Ukhrul District, and V Tunzasiam, Manager, UCO Bank, Ukhrul Branch, as special guests.
During the closing ceremony, Kipjen expressed his great encouragement for the local youth organizing the event. He also praised T-Coleve’s efforts and extended his support for community empowerment initiatives.
Kipjen further elaborated on the name of the tournament ‘Break Free’, an appeal to young people to break with antisocial behavior and substance abuse.
Speaking of the event, T-Coleve’s event director Rinlungso ZAS said that while cue sports are a relatively niche sport in the district, we’ve been seeing local pool and snooker enthusiasts for a few years now.
So it’s an honor to hold the first event of its kind in the district and we’re proud to have brought this much-needed platform to the potential local talents in cue sports, he added.
T-Coleve is a collective of enthusiastic individuals from different fields working together for ‘Break Free Pool & Snooker Tournament’ and for more targeted events in the future. While SAM Group is a private company, based in Ukhrul, whose portfolio, in the span of just over a year since its inception in 2020, has expanded into several sectors namely Food & Beverage, Poultry Services, Hospitality, Entertainment and B&M services.
