That latest Mario release for the Nintendo Switch is a polished take on the Wii U classic, Super Mario 3D Worldwith a new expansion called Bowser’s anger, in which you collect coins in an archipelago while dodging or fighting a Kaiju-sized Bowser. At their core, though, both the port and the expansion are smart platformers with a lot of charm, making them an ideal package.
While not the best looking game by modern standards, the recent remaster also helps showcase the Switch’s more powerful hardware, delivering better visuals and better performance over the original. If you’ve never experienced this keystone title on the Nintendo Wii, this version is the definitive way to play this game – not only for the spectacular base game, but also for the fantastic expansion.
