Fans are eagerly awaiting The Wonder Years. But the big difference which can be expected from the reboot of the comedy series is that now you will get to see a Black family. Soon after the approval of the script the room for the mini writers will open. According to the sources, the new Wonder Years will hit the television screen in the 2021-22 series.
The original series revolved around a white middle-class family and starred Fred Savage. It revolved around the 1960s suburbs. The new take of the network owned by Disney focuses will be on a Black middle-class family.
It talks about the late ’60s in Montgomery, Alabama. Entire focus of the production team has been to ensure that the series turns out to be “the wonder years” for the new family as well.
Saladin K. Patterson, the comedy veteran will be writing the script. The other members of the team comprise Daniels and Marc Velez. Also, the co-creator of the original series will be the consultant in the coming season. We will also get to see Savage in the role of exec producer and director.
Rumors are doing the rounds that the idea was brought to ABC Entertainment president by Daniels, Savage, Velez and Patterson. Well, this is one of the shows which motivated Karey Burke to work in television. This was like one of her dream projects.
