TikTok Asks Nine Social Media Companies to help Combat Suicide Content After a Viral Video

After a suicide clip was doing rounds for weeks earlier this month, TikTok has asked the social media platforms to combat the situation with a partnership through which violent content can be addressed in a better way. The nine social media platforms include- Facebook, Instagram, Google, YouTube, Twitter, Twitch, Snapchat, Pinterest, and Reddit.

The TikTok interim Chief Vanessa Pappas has written to the CEO’s of the other platforms and have proposed that how they are already working together for combating the child sexual imagery and terrorist-related content, a new partnership can be entered for this issue also. He also said that TikTok would implement machine learning and emergency systems changes, which will be tweaking where its algorithms will detect the violent content and sort out with the moderators for a faster takedown.

Only twitter has responded to the letter sent by TikTok, and it has responded ‘No comment.’ Pappas said that he is waiting for a response from other CEO’s.
