The United Kingdom has issued new alternate sanctions against Russia that ban all space-associated exports to that country in line with its invasion of Ukraine. 

U.Okay. International Secretary Elizabeth Truss announced the new space export sanctions on Wednesday (March 9) alongside deeper sanctions associated to aviation, including new powers to detain Russian airplane. The space-associated sanctions characteristic a “ban on the export of aviation and space-associated items and skills, including technical assistance,” in line with a statement.

They join harsh sanctions by the United States that President Joseph Biden has stated would degrade the Russian space program.

“We’re going to continue to augment Ukraine diplomatically, economically and defensively in the face of Putin’s unlawful invasion, and work to isolate Russia on the global stage,” Truss stated in the statement.
