Disney kicked off Star Wars Celebration event with the first look at Andorra† The upcoming Disney Plus series stars Diego Luna, who reprises his role as Cassian Andor from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The show will hit the streaming platform on August 31.
Details about the show were relatively light, although Disney’s website describes the show as a “tense, nail-biting spy thriller”. Today’s panel confirmed that the season will be 12 episodes long – much longer than a typical one Star Wars show — and takes place five years before the events of Rogue One† “You won’t recognize Cassian Andor at first,” Luna said during the panel. Here’s the official description:
The Andorra series will explore a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make. The series puts forward the story of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how humans and planets got involved. It is an era of danger, deceit and intrigue as Cassian embarks on the path destined to make him a rebel hero.
Andorra is just one of many Star Wars shows in development for Disney’s streaming service. There is of course the third season of The Mandalorianbut also Obi-Wan Kenobia show based on Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka and a Lando Calrissian ‘event series’.
