Today Xiaomi has unveiled its MIUI 12 OS officially. Xiaomi has announced that the first device to receive the MIUI 12 OS will be Mi Lite 10, also called Mi 10 Youth Edition which was also unveiled today. As per the reports, the custom OS will hit many older Xiaomi phones too in phases. Xiaomi has not officially confirmed the list of smartphones receiving the final MiUi 12 Update, but it has already invited applications for beta testing of the MIUI 12 build for older devices.
With each update, MIUI 12 is going to improve the aesthetics of the interface with a flurry of new animations and redesigned elements introduced in each cycle. MIUI 12 implemented in Mi 10 Youth Edition comes with new a flatter and more seamless UI.
As reported by Gizmochina, Xiaomi seems to be releasing MIUI 12 initially to a batch of 30 devices, which seems to quite fascinating as it contains some of the devices that will soon phase out of the market due to age. Xiaomi confirmed on the list of its devices that are eligible for the MIUI 12 internal testing.
The list includes Mi models such as Mi 10 Pro, Mi 10, Mi 9 Pro 5G, Mi 9, Mi 9 SE, MI 8 Screen Fingerprint Edition, Mi 8 Youth Edition, Mi 8 Explorer Edition, Mi 8 SE, Mi 8, Mi 6, Mi 6X, Mi CC9 Pro, Mi CC9, Mi CC9 Meitu Custom Edition, Mi MIX 3, Mi MIX 2s, Mi MIX 2, Mi Note 3 and Mi Max 3. Also, the Mi 10 Youth Edition that will go official today will be also support it.
MIUI 12 is a custom skin based on the Android operating system for Mi and Redmi phones. In other words, MIUI 12 is a modified version of Android OS with infinite customizations options. It brings several exciting features including Dark Mode 2.0, Dynamic Always-on Display with over 1000+ custom animated styles, AI Calling, Navigation gestures and more.
Xiaomi revealed the MIUI 12 new privacy features called Flare, Barbed Wire, and Mask System. TÜV Rheinland’s “Android Enhanced Privacy Protection Test” has been successfully conducted and cleared by MIUI 12 OS privacy protection features.
While the internal beta program will kick-start in a few hours, Xiaomi has now revealed that the stable MIUI 12 update is planned to be released by the end of June.
As you might have noticed, popular devices like Redmi Note 9 Pro, Note 9 Pro Max, Mi A3, Poco F1, Poco X2 etc are missing from the list. The reason behind it is that the above list only applies to China. So, for global Xiaomi users, MIUI 12 supported devices list yet to be announced by the company. Above, we have added an unofficial list for both Global and Chinese users which shows expected phones that may support the MIUI 12 ROM. These devices were missing from the official list, but, we believe they might be eligible for the next generation MIUI. As of now, Indian and Global users can only sit back and wait for the official announcement.
