AR Rahman becomes BAFTA Breakthrough India Ambassador


The famous music composer AR Rahman was announced as the ambassador for the British Academy of Film and Television Arts’ Breakthrough Initiative on Monday. The Academy Award winner composer said that he was very thrilled to work BAFTA and discover the talent which the country has to offer. This initiative has been supported by the streaming platform Netflix and the aim is to identify, celebrate, and support at least five talents working in the field of films, games, or TV in India. 

The 53-year-old composer said that he is looking forward to seeing some brilliant talents which will be chosen from India to be showcased on an international stage. As per a press statement, this initiative will help facilitate developing good relationships between British talent and India’s creative talents.

The CEO of BAFTA, Amanda Berry said that Rahman equally shares the team’s passion for identifying and nurturing new budding talents and they were very grateful for his support. The selected five would take part in a one-year one-to-one mentoring and guidance program with global networking opportunities and free access to BAFTA events and screenings.
