BCCI president Mr. Sourav Ganguly left for Dubai on Wednesday to look after the preparations of upcoming IPL starting from September 19.
New Delhi: BCCI president Sourav Ganguly left for Dubai city on Wednesday to check on the ongoing preparations of IPL 2020 beginning from September 19. Before boarding his flight he shared a photo of himself wearing a face mask and a face shield. The opening match will be played between Mumbai Indians v/s Chennai Super Kings on September 19. IPL also known as Indian Premier League has been happening since 2008. Eight teams participate in it consisting of top-notch players from around the globe. Mumbai Indians took the winner trophy in 2019. It is also of the most-attended T-20 cricket league in the world. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the IPL got postponed this year, otherwise every year it is scheduled in between March-May.
If IPL 2020 got cancelled so the board would have incurred a loss of Rs 4000 crore. Mr Brijesh Patel, current chairperson of IPL and other key people are already present in Dubai.
Strict safety measurements are followed by all the 8 teams. Despite the strict safety precautions taken by the teams, 2 players of Chennai Super Kings have been tested positive for COVID-19. The whole team has already been quarantined by the authorities. One will miss the hootings of fans for their favourite team as people are not allowed to enter the stadium yet. Matches will be played in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
