In an interview on Monday, Andre Gillium revealed that he identifies himself as bisexual. His statement to the interviewer Tamron Hall is that “To be very honest with you, when you didn’t ask the question, you put it out there is whether or not I identify as gay. And the answer is I don’t identify as gay, but I do identify as bisexual, and that is something that I have never shared publicly before.”
The Candid interview soon turned out to be an emotional interview when the interviewer talked about the time when he was found in a hotel with another person in a drunk situation. As per the reports it was most probably the case of a drug overdose. The police officer at that time didn’t press any legal charges against him as he apologized at the moment and promised to go to the rehab. To this, he said that “Everyone believes the absolute worst about that day. At this stage, I don’t have anything else to have to conceal.”
Gillum further added to the interview that “I literally got broken down to my most bare place, to the place where I wasn’t even sure that I wanted to live. Not because of what I had done but because of everything that was being said about me. What was most hurtful was this belief that I was somehow living a lie in my marriage and in my family. That was the most hurtful to me. Because I believe we are all entitled to mistakes, and I believe we are entitled to those mistakes without having every other respectable and redeeming part of our lives invalidated.”He also said that the situation was assumed differently by many people.
Former Democratic Candidate for Governor Gillium lost that race from a close margin against Republican Ron DeSantis. Even after the loss, Gillium became a known face in politics. Before the Governor Campaign, he was running as a Mayor of Tallahassee from 2014-2018. Also in the past, he was City Commissioner from 2003-2014.
