The confirmation by the Golden state Warriors’ of Klay Thompson, a key player injuring his right leg during a normal workout in Southern California on Wednesday.
The Warriors’ did not clarify the injury on the particular leg. Thompson had injured his left knee during the finals against Toronto Raptors and was rested for the season 2019-20.
A close aide who preferred anonymity informed USA Today Sports of Thompson undergoing an MRI on Thursday. The hush-hush around his injury is warranted but the injury does not seem to affect the Warriors’ strategy in the NBA draft. James Wiseman, their No.2 pick selected from Memphis as the center, was planned in advance before the disclosure of Thompson’s injury.
Wiseman declared the injury got to him emotionally. “But the team, we got his back no matter what. He’s going to be in great recovery. All prayers go to Klay, my teammate. He’s going to be just fine.”
Thompson before the ACl injury had performed well in 615 out of 640 regular season games during his 8 year NBA career. He starred in all 120 playoff games until the hamstring injury against the Raptors caused his disappearance in the game.
