Microsoft has started testing ray tracing support for: Minecraft on Xbox Series X/S consoles. a new Minecraft Preview build is available to Xbox Insiders and includes limited ray tracing support. The latest test version has also been marked as Xbox Series X/S optimized, suggesting a next-gen patch is coming soon.
I have tried the latest Minecraft Preview, and have successfully enabled some ray tracing support. However, it is not a simple switch. MinecraftRay tracing is made possible through additional resource packs, and there is currently no easy way to download and install them in the Xbox version of the game. However, there is a solution. You can host a Minecraft session on a Windows PC with the packages enabled, and an Xbox player can join that session and ray tracing is enabled.

You can then enable or disable ray tracing support through the settings menu. While there is also a setting for scaling support, it currently seems to be limited to Nvidia’s DLSS on the PC side. Hopefully, that will eventually extend to AMD’s FSR 2.0 support on Xbox, or other scaling techniques.
Minecraft players on Xbox have been waiting a long time to hear about ray tracing on Xbox Series X/S. Microsoft originally teased Minecraft ray tracing on Xbox Series X two years ago, and the addition of the support in the latest preview build suggests it could be on the way soon.
