shillings: The Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) women’s team was ecstatic after winning the gold medal at the team event of the 83rd Senior National Table Tennis Championship here on Thursday.
In an exclusive interview with EastMojostar sailor Manika Batra expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance.
“In today’s team, the three of us played really well today and we all supported each other and I’m happy with my team. The Maharashtra team was good, but we tried our best and that’s why we won,” said Batra.
PSPB coach Monalisa Baruah Mehta praised the organizers for preparing for this tournament on such short notice.
All smiles after her team won the gold medal, Mehta, a former international rower from Assam, said she was delighted after the team won. Now they are preparing the team for the singles events.
The 83rd National Senior Table Tennis Championship began on April 18 and will end on April 25. The event will be held at the SAI Indoor stadium on the NEHU Campus in Shillong.
Both the PSPB men’s and women’s teams won the final, beating Maharashtra 3-0.
