Sindhu through to India Open semifinals

New Delhi: Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu advanced to the semifinals of women’s singles after beating Indian Ashmita Chaliha in straight games at the Yonex-Sunrise India Open badminton tournament here on Friday.

Top class Sindhu, a former world champion, took 36 minutes to beat 21-year-old Chaliha 21-7 21-18 and mounted a final-four clash with Thailand’s Supanida Katethong, who was seeded sixth.
