Even after a break of 437 days, Dhoni’s leadership qualities have not reduced even by an ounce. The CSK in his leadership defeated the Mumbai Indians in the first IPL match of this season. Ambati Rayudu and Faf du Plessis helped CSK chase down the 163 run target by scoring 71 runs and 55 runs respectively in 19.2 overs.
The leg spinner Piyush Chawla and left-arm seamer Sam Curran, gave fantastic first impressions and also Deepak Chahar and Lungi Ngidi showed brilliant presentation at the death overs. The disappointment, however, was how clueless Bumrah looked which cost the Mumbai team much. MI’s ground fielding was sloppy, and the bowlers either were bowling too short or too full during the partnership score of Rayudu and Plessis of 115 runs.
The highlight of MI innings was Saurabh Tiwary’s 42 runs from 31 balls and Quinton de Kock’s 33 runs in 20 balls.
All in all, it was a power-packed performance from the winner team leaving fans looking forward to seeing them again in their next match.
