Tripura CM Biplab Deb directs DGP to review UAPA cases against journalists, lawyers

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Saturday directed bid police chief VS Yadav to learn about the cases filed below the Unlawful Actions (Prevention) Act in opposition to journalists and legal professionals.

The Tripura Police had booked 102 of us, collectively with some journalists and legal professionals, below UAPA for allegedly sharing false shots and movies of a mosque burning in Tripura on social media.

Following the instructions of chief minister, DGP VS Yadav issued a direction to the ADG Crime Department to learn about the UAPA cases.

On November 13, the Ministry of Home Affairs had called the news circulating on social media of vandalism at a mosque in Tripura as false. The home ministry stated the mosque in the Dargabazar space of Kakraban has not been damaged and the Tripura Police in Gomati district is working to retract peace and tranquillity.
