Chennai: TVS Motor Company, a leading manufacturer of two- and three-wheelers, announced on Monday a partnership with Malaysian oil and gas company Petronas to form India’s first factory racing team.
The rebranded PETRONAS TVS Racing Team will compete in racing, supercross and rally formats including the Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship (INMRC), the Indian National Supercross Championship (INSC) and the Indian National Rally Championship (INRC). release said here.
The new team will adopt a new livery this season as part of the alliance and will boost the partnership to further increase the popularity of racing in India, the team said.
TVS Motor Company Director and CEO KN Radhakrishnan said: “We are delighted to have Petronas as our partner for TVS Racing. PETRONAS Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Datuk Sazali Hamzah said the company continues to make progress in the value chain in India and that the deal with TVS “seals a stronger partnership with one of India’s most respected OEMs (original equipment maker)”.
PETRONAS Senior General Manager-Group Strategic Communications Datin Anita Azrina Abdul Aziz said the project provides another platform to test its capabilities and raise awareness about Petronas’ brand and philosophy among motorsport fans in India, a strategic market for the company. .
According to Vice President, New Product Development, TVS Motor Company Megashyam L Dighole, “TVS Racing has been a prominent force in Indian motorsport for over four decades. We are hugely committed to auto racing in the country and have continuously worked to increase interest and enthusiasm for the sport here. Our partnership with Petronas is proof of this.”
The two companies are said to be developing a co-branded oil Petronas TVS Tru4 RacePro – which will be available to high street consumers across India from May 2022.
